ABBEY SCHOOL

Twelve classroom school extension and reception

In this project we were commissioned to assist in the realisation of a significant extension of Abbey Senior School, Reading. The project involved a careful extension to the School’s original building, which is located within a conservation area. The new accommodation includes 12 classrooms, administration areas and a new reception over 3 storeys. The top floor classrooms are specialist art rooms.

All classrooms are naturally ventilated and the construction will achieve high standards of thermal performance within an envelope that is sympathetic to and in harmony with the existing structure. The project was completed in September 2008. The project was undertaken as Dunthorne Parker Architects Ltd with PJMA subsequently appointed to work on The Abbey School’s Early Years Centre.
