We were appointed to develop designs for the first phase of new council housing for Basildon Borough Council having undertaken initial feasibility planning on a number of small council owned sites. This phase of development delivered full planning consent for 27 new homes across 5 sites.

At programme inception we were able to advise the council on the evolution of building standards towards zero-carbon and the efforts to address fuel poverty for residents. We developed a prototype house design that would enable a progression towards higher insulation standards and eventually Passivhaus, specifically addressing management of renewable energy generation and the need for the building services to be maintained from outside the home.
