The practice was commissioned by Sackville Developments Ltd to replace an existing complex of outdated, inefficient and low quality buildings on this large Green Belt site with a single new office building. The completed project consolidates all the existing buildings on site into a single two-storey, lower profiled, modern office space which exceeded the energy efficiency demands of the emerging legislation.

The practice successfully mitigated the need for on-site renewable energy generation with passive design strategies alone,  retaining scope for future further improvement of the building’s energy performance. The future proofing strategy included the use of clerestory glazing in the atrium, in-situ cast concrete floors and facades with scope for night-time venting.
